ISB, Bangkok BABY!

There are a few citites out there that request “BABY” after them. I think it started for me with Hong Kong. I fell in such love with that city that I had to call it Hong Kong BABY. It’s such a sexy city with it’s cosmopolitan flair with so much culture mixed in. Then, as many of you know, three years ago we fell in love with Bangkok. The affair has brought us to this dynamic city for three Christmases in a row. I now can not help but called it Bangkok BABY. Now I know a very dear city that in a few months will also receive the “BABY” status. Don’t be surprised if you hear me refer to Bombay as Bombay BABY. For now, the list is comprised of these three cities. Maybe Beijing will make it; I’m not sure…

I’m digressing. Yesterday was an extremely accomplished day for me. I received an invitation from a very prestigious school in Bangkok–the International School of Bangkok. They have invited me to visit their school to help evaluate their library program. This is my first consulting invitation, and I feel very honored. What’s more is I’ll be working with Doug Johnson. Last year while I was preparing for a conference here at ASB, I contacted Doug for some help. To make a long story short, he basically became my mentor. Doug is a very accomplished librarian known around the world for his writings and workshops. I met him in person this last summer at the ALA (American Library Association), and I’ll be meeting him again this spring at the NESA conference; we will both be presenting.

Yesterday was a proud moment for me: being invited to work with Doug in a city I adore at a school I admire. To end this post, I think I could say, I love my job BABY!
